CLUBS & EVENTS
The Chittenango Middle School Library hosts a variety of clubs and events for students. Please see the library staff with any questions!
BATTLE OF THE BOOKS
Let's Read!
Battle of the Books (BOTB) is a regional competition in which students work in teams of 2-4 people to read and study a set of 8-10 novels over the course of several months. There is a set of 10 books for students in 5th and 6th grades, and a separate set of 8 books for 7th and 8th grade students. In order to prepare for the competitions, students meet regularly to answer practice trivia questions. Once students have mastered their set of books, they participate in building and regional competitions. This club is the largest club in the middle school, with over 60 members.
LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD
Let Your Voice Be Heard!
The Library Advisory Board consists of 15 members, including a president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer. These individuals assist Ms. Regitano with all things library, including book selection and planning library programming and events.
SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR
Let's Shop!
Each year, the Chittenango Middle School Library hosts both a fall and spring book fair. All proceeds go toward library-related activities, including clubs and events.
TEEN BOOK FESTIVAL
Meet Your Favorite Authors!
The Teen Book Festival, hosted by the Rochester Institute of Technology, is a free event where students have the opportunity to meet some of their favorite authors in person and listen to them discuss their books and writing processes. This field trip is open first to Battle of the Books members and Library Advisory Board members, and then to other members of the student body.
